Hi Guys,
My current config
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
Gigabyte 880GM-UD2h
1TB Black
6GB DDR3
ViP 400R SMPS

This thread is related to previous thread : *www.digit.in/forum/hardware-q/189203-computer-wont-start-after-reboot-shutdown-immediately-need-start-again-after-10-15-minutes.html

As the Phenom is using too much power and generating too much heat, so i am planning to change.

My budget is around $200/Rs. 12000
CPU : Intel i3 4130/AMD FX 6300
MOBO : Any Compatible
PSU : Antec BP300P

Rest seems fine enough. No need to replace them.

So i need you suggestion, do i need to upgrade this or not ?
if yes, is this the good configuration ?

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Internet Browsing, Video Encoding, Using like a Download Server (keep it running for many days), Documents editing, some small occasionally games.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: around 12000 {just PSU, Mobo & CPU}

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows & Linux

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I already have one (1TB), new is not required

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: NO

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I am planning to buy just CPU, Mobo & PSU

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Immediately

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes i have built a desktop

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai, Online is also fine

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Processor shoudnt generate too much heat.

Phenom II X6 1055T is just more than enough for your needs. If you are not planning on installing a Gpu,get antec bp300p and you are good to go. You can save rest of the money. If the problem you have still remains even after changing psu, you can think of having a new system, of course by escalating the issue.

I thought the same, but the issue is my motherboard is now 4 years old & out of warranty.
The problems that are currently with my system are because of my mobo & PSU.
My mobo is in such bad condition 'coz of the cheap PSU's i bought in the past.
So i feel just replacing PSU alone wont do the trick, i need to replace the MOBO also.
One of the local dealer, is giving me around 4-5k for my mobo & CPU.
So i feel thats a better option, to just replace everything.

You can get this-

i3 4130 (7300)
ASUS H81M-K (4080)
Antec VP450P (2838)
total: ~14000

Don;t go for anything below this.

Isnt Antec BP300P good ?
coz i m getting that at 1800
and if the price is approx similar, then isnt Corsair better then Antec ?
Corsair VS450 ?

and any thoughts on AMD FX 6300 ?
which is better ?

bp300p is good if you are not planning on a gpu later.otherwise get vp450p. fx 6300+a good mobo(970 series based)+ a gpu(because fx 6300 does not have igpu) will itself cost around 15.5k.

Does this mobo have 5.1 Audio ?
Coz i have home theatre, which i have connected to my current mobo.
So will i be able to connect it to this also ?

oh i dint know, that fx 6300 doesnt have a iGPU, thanks for a heads up.
I thought AMD does integrate a GPU.

and no i am not gonna purchase a new GPU in near future.

Does i3 4th Gen match the outperforms AMD 1055t (or atleast matches the perfomance) ?

it is better o buy a sound card because the audio chip that comes with these cheap mobo will be of very basic one. for normal tasks i3 outperforms 1055t. for heavily multithreaded apps, the latter performs well.

Thanks for your suggestions.
i Have ordered Corsair VS450 SMPS.

What do you say about this ?

I am now double minded over whether to purchase a new mob+CPU or stick with this.

I just checked my PSU
its provides around 310W of max power *tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/28/2ea6fbd467758e787902df5d69d90ded.jpg

i doubt it can provide more than 200W ;)
you cant trust readings from such local manufacturers. Prevention is always better than cure. i think you got my point :)

I have cancelled VS and ordered BP300P

Does anyone know a good thermal Paste which i can apply on my CPU ?

that is a good decision.
for thermal paste look at noctua nt-h1 available at primeabgb.com. a very good one at good price point.

A 1055T will suffice your needs, however, if you are planning to use it 24x7 or most of the time, you can consider i3 4130 7.3k and gigabyte h81m s1 3.2k that way it won't go overbudget and will run cooler and Power efficient, bp 300p will be okay with it

Thank you guyz for your replies.
I think now i am not changing my Board+CPU.

I changed my smps TO aNTEC bp300p & the Restart issue was resolved.
and then i cleaned my HeatSink Fan, there was lots and lots of dust in the HeatSink,
I think the dust was blocking the air passage between the HeatSInk and CPU.
Plus i had used a cheap quality THermal Paste which is available, due to whoch the heatsink & CPU were glued togheether when i removed it & 4-5 pins of my CPU were bent.

BUt eveything is fine now, except VOLTAGE. THe VOLTAGE is still too high.

Check the voltage, should i undervolt the processor. ?
