Older version of Android and along that no Gapps. Nah it is a absolutely worthless device. Moto E is way better than this device.

Nokia XL is more of a prototype from Nokia's experimentation with Android. It has lots of hiccups here and there.
If you really want a Nokia with Android, check for the upcoming Nokia X2 which is going to be released this week.

In WP8, you can check Lumia 525.
In Android, you can check Moto E.

It is an OKAYish sort of phone....and its features are nothing particular to write about and its biggest downside is the lack of Android Playstore ( Its not possible to access PLAYSTORE and download apps from it ) .
.
I would better recommend the Lumia 525 or the Lumia 630 ( Windows 8.1 ) if you are okay with the windows phone
or else
Buy the Moto G ( camera is not that great but manageable )..

You can root the phone, to access the Play store..

Rooting leads to voiding the WARRANTY. Also except tech freaks like us almost nobody roots their phones (a lot many dont even know about it)
So if something unfortunate happens to the device one is out on his own.

you can unroot it later and avail the warranty, if the rooting process does not involve unlocking bootloader

who cares, stick to lumia 630,525,520 or moto e,g
all other phones in this range are actually terrible even nokia xl which despite being an android in lumia armour doesnt do justice to neither android nor windows phone

Nokia x2 is much better than lumia 630, 520 ,

could be considered on par with 525 , moto E due to non availability of play store and google apps for general users

for techy users it is already the best phone in this range for those who can root,install roms etc

lolwut no man, moto and lumia are much better than the nokia xl
techie android lovers prefer moto,techie windows phone lovers prefer whichever lumia meets their needs
if your going by specs to compare android,lumia and nokia x phones,im just gonna faceplam like epic facepalm
the experience is what matter not specs or os etc
