In the meantime, I bought one HDD to replace my laptop's dying HDD. And also decided to buy one external casing for the one that was to come out of my laptop. Here are the pics:
The Seagate 500GB HDD cost Rs. 3.5K and has a 2 year warranty.

Bought one transcend External Drive Casing too for 2.5 inch laptop HDD, which cost 700 bucks and this also carries a 2 year warranty.
