Need new Phone for a budget of about 24k

Hey guys,so i am finally planning to retire my 4.5 year old Nokia n82 phone....its giving me some problems now & i thought i should move in to the touchscreen era...So i am looking to buy a smartphone with a budget of about 24K...not much in a hurry to buy a phone..may end up buying in november or december also..opening the thread now so that i can get an idea of the phone market which i am saddly not in touch with...so here are the buying quesstionaires..

1. Budget?
Updated to 27000...can't go higher than this at all

2. Display type and size?

Erm...Display type..well i guess whatever i get best with this budget..again no clue as to what to expect here..so pls help
3. Form Factor? bar, slider, flip?

Touchscreen...so bar phone i guess
4. Preferred choice of brand?

Samsung,HTC,Nokia,Sony ...most will do except motorola...
5. Preferred input method (QWERTY, touchscreen, numpad, touch-n-type).

Touch screen
6. What camera option you want? Please specify need for flash, autofocus, front facing camera.

Xenon Flash would be a bonus..realised that with my n82 phone how useful it is,but i know its impossible to get now..front camera is required,autofocus,led flash...
7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).

Android 4.0(Future upgradable to 4.1 or more)Open to windows phone as well...
8. Preferred connectivity options (3G, Wifi etc)Please specify clearly.

3G,WIFI are a must
9. Preferred applications (Flash, Swype, GPS, etc)?

Flash support is required but i heard adobe will stop supporting it..but still need flash player...GPS is also my top priority..need it at any cost...Skype support..etc
10. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, mails, internet, gaming etc)?

Primary use will be a mix of multimedia,mails,camera,internet,apps support...etc
11. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?

Not particularly..need help in this...
12. Any other info that you want to share

Yes also i need a phone with a minimum 1gb ram support & one with expandable memory...

Just read 4-5 days back Samsung reduce its galaxy s2 pricenow its available for Rs 25,990 (official) just find locally u will defiantly get it near24k.

S2 is the best option. It is old but trusted. Else increase budget and grab Xperia S for 26k.

It's old but getting all android updates included upcoming jelly bean. That helps in maintaining.

Ya, galaxy S2 is bit old now. I bought a Galaxy Nexus S for 21.6K 2 weeks back from ebay as my roomie already had S2. As per me, compared to S2 it is far superior but there is a catch. This one doesnt have any warranty. Leaving that, you will get Jellybean out of the box with best gaming and video at this price range.

P.S. Galaxy S2 is currently 24k with bill and warranty in Mumbai

Does sony xperia s have ics firmware...i read that it only has gingerbread for now...also no memory card option..why so??Will 32gb be enough??has anyone here used it to give a review..seems like a good piece...galaxy nexus is one phone i am fan of...a friend of mine uses an older nexus phone & its great..but i heard the music quality isn't that great...could you tell me more about this phone?Also SE seems to have gps with GLONASS..what is this?

Yes Sony xperia s has ICS my friend has the same with ICS update. You only get dual core phone right now (don’t know about feature). Still I think Samsung galaxy s2 is rooooooocking (skyrocket without and with warranty it has better processor and bigger screen, how can I forgot about that supper amoled screen to mention). Other wise Sony xperia s is good choice (12mp camera, get latest update, nfc enable & that white transparent strip).

He can get an Xperia S for 27K. It is much much better than Galaxy S2 in every metric u can think of !!

Thanks rider for the info..had gone to inquire about the phones...S2 in chembur mumbai is coming around 25000...xperia p when i asked..they said its not a good phone...s2 is better..& don't want to risk with motorola phones now that they have shut their plants in india...

I also heard that s2 gets really hot,consumes a lot of batter...few said it doesn't even last a day with normal usage..don't know how true this is...few stores i asked also didn't have a clue whether s2 is getting a jelly bean update..any confirmations on that?

There is no issues with Galaxy S2 if there is how can be it as the sold out millions of sets.The fact is every phones get warmed up when you do high graphics gaming or high end work for too much time. Battery life is fine lasts one or two days (depends on the usage). Prices are dropped recently as vampiredevil said above. The phone would be available for 24k locally by bargaining.

I do own a Galaxy S2. Got it Aug 2011. After a year it's still going strong..... I have rooted it and a bunch of new softwares which were otherwise locked out now rule my s2
It's true, you can't do much wrong going for this brute.

Using Tapatalk on this baby to be always on touch with Digit is just great.....
Can't get enough of its super amoled screen....
