hi
i need to upgrade the ram of my dell latitude d510 laptop
according to 1GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 upgrades for Dell Latitude D510 Laptop/Notebook, CT492759 from Crucial.com

  • Module Size: 1GB
  • Package: 200-pin SODIMM
  • Feature: DDR2 PC2-5300
  • Specs: DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64
the above ram works for my laptop.

i did some online search and foundTranscend 1gbJM667QSU-1G(i plan to get 2 of these to run in dual channel mode)
Transcend DDR2-667/PC2-5300 DDR2 1 GB Laptop RAM (JM667QSU-1G) | Ram | Flipkart.com

  • DDR2-667/PC2-5300
  • SO-DIMM Memory Module
  • 200-pin Configuration
  • 3-3-3 CAS Latency
  • Unbuffered
  • 166 MHz Memory Clock Speed
  • 8 x 128 MB DRAM Structure
  • Specified Voltage: 1.8 V
  • Error Check: Non-ECC

now the only diffrence i see between the two is the DRAM structure 128Meg x 64 v / s 8 x 128 MB.and i am a little confused with
166 MHz Memory Clock Speed of the transcend.

should i go for the transcend ram?? does the DRAM structure make any diffrence??will it be compatible to my laptop??
pls help....

AFAIK the transcend Ram will still work on your laptop. And there won't be much of a difference in performance. Better to wait for someone with more knowledge in DRAM structure. But it should work.

thanks for the reply Abhishek, even i think that it should work but just little doubt because of the DRAM structure thing.
btw check out *www.transcendusa.com/support/dlcenter/jetram/product/Pdf/JM667QSU-1G_2300-s.pdf
it is the manual of JM667QSU-1G.
read the very first line it says "
The JM667QSU-1G is a 128M x 64bits DDR2-667 SO-DIMM. The JM667QSU-1G consists of 8pcs 128Mx8 bits DDR2 SDRAMs......
again i am confused it says both 128M x 64bits and 128Mx8 bits:confused:
