Question set #1: How did the motherboard die anyways- How did you conclude its a motherboard issue? Is there anything else that is damaged?

When Keshav Computers sent the motherboard to the RMA centre (Rashi Peripherals Kolkata) for replacement, the centre refused the board claiming "damaged pins." I was obviously shocked and rather confused because I had never sent the board in such a condition.
Honestly, you should have given the board to Rashi directly rather than giving it to dealer. During this process, there's no way telling what must have happened. Either the dealer must have tried something in the process and made it worse than it was according to what you've said. This is the part where anyone will be suspicious on the dealer if not the user.

Question set #2: Does the board that you bought and the board you got as a replacement have same serial numbers? Did you give the motherboard with the socket cap on the processor and put the board inside an anti-static bag to Keshav computers- and did you receive it in the same way?

So I immediately sent the board back to Keshav Computers.
Question set #3: Did you accept the board and then return it or did you reject it on the keshav computer's desk itself? In any case, why didn't Keshav computers check the condition before accepting it from Rashi? When you bought it from Keshav computers, did you get a proper bill with serial number on it?


Honestly speaking, when I told you to send an email to Asus' thing, this is what I meant, rather you ended up complaining about others. I am not saying what you did was necessarily wrong, but at that time you should have concentrated more on getting the issue resolved rather than trying to dry hump a service centre guy, whom we all know its a wasted efforts anyways.


I need the photograph of the board when you bought it- and the one which is replaced (which I hope both of them are clear enough).

Honestly, you should have given the board to Rashi directly rather than giving it to dealer. During this process, there's no way telling what must have happened. Either the dealer must have tried something in the process and damaged it. This is the part where anyone will be suspicious on the dealer.

#1: RAM was also damaged. I tested the board thoroughly by swapping parts with my brother's setup. I do not know exactly how it got damaged though. But it is also possible that other parts may have gotten damaged, but due to size I cannot check them right now. I would have to open up my brother's PC completely to do so. So It will have to wait till my new mobo arrives.

I know I should have done it directly, but I always catch the shop from where I purchased it first. I was also very busy at the time, and still am.

#2: Yes. The board was one and the same.

#3: Keshav Computers sent the board to me. I inspected it and rejected it when it came home. I called him up and then I took the board to the shop personally the very next day.

I was surprised that Keshav Computers did not check the condition. I told him that and he was like "arrey, toh kya hua?" But it was a Saturday so he sent the board back to Rashi on the next working day.
I used to be a regular customer at Keshav Computers, but now I've stopped purchasing anything at all from them. I've explicitly told my father that I wont be buying from them. Any purchases from now on will happen either online or at Chandni.

JS: No consumer court. I'm a minor and Dad wont allow. Didgit could help, probably. I hope Raabo is seeing this.

:|. Its not. Its called logical flow of troubleshoot. Annoying at best but helps to understand what's the issue and who is at fault.

Ram was damaged? That's it? Okay, what did really happen that ended up killing the board and the memory kit? Did you bump up the VDRAM? Any burnt marks on the board/memory kit when this happened- or any smell? Happened during usage? when you booted? Which surge protector/UPS/Power Supply?

Well, all thanks to this, it looks like you were able to make the required time afterall.

No matter how good the dealer is and all that, make a habit of going to the service centre directly no questions asked. There have been times when people gave 500GB drives to dealers and Service centre gave 1TB. Now dealer will keep that and give his 500GB to you. Why most will do it? Because its not profitable for them, especially they are going to the service centre on your behalf. Do you see how this works? When you buy any stuff you should take responsibility and ownership of it. Hardware's health is as good as the user- irrespective of how much money he pours it. This is ironclad.

Did you have a proper bill with the proper serial number?

The way I see things, this is probably what happened:
When I used to have experience with few MSI X58-E back in the days, anything more than 2GB (2x 2GB) didn't detect. As stupid as it looked he used a stock cooler, and it worked. Then my friend did a washer mod for his TRUE120E and it worked.

So most likely in your case the processor was not mounted properly in the first place (or didn't have proper mount to begin with), made a surge through and damaged the memory kit and the board. Honestly, I seriously doubt such boards can be repaired. Most likely H/W to be damaged in this case is Power supply, processor, motherboard and memory kit. If its only motherboard and memory kit, consider youself very lucky. (yeah I mean it).

Again, that's the reason why I've asked you to ask them if burnt warranty still exists. But you would have posted in this manner earlier, some thing could have been tried. I am not sure what's Rashi's defination of "burnt warranty" (is it like repair work and/or doing some re-wiring work rather than replacement) but now its pretty clear how the issue really stands out. Like I said, you're very lucky if its only the motherboard and the memory kit, but test other things, especially the processor.

Yes, RAM was damaged. But I mentioned that other parts might have been damaged.
It happened for no reason. I never bumped the voltages. i stayed below the 1.65v stated for safety. I was always at 1.643v. PSU was Corsair AX-1200.
UPS was a 2kVA model, forgot which one. It has an LCD screen and everything.
No burn smells or marks whatsoever.

They did not/were not able to give any excuse.

Yes I had proper bill. But it is with my father, so I cant access it right now.

I did not run the board. I did not want to risk further damage in case the chipped portion's circuit line was for voltage regulation.

Processor was mounted properly. I use a custom watercooling loop. Like I said before, I am not sure whether other parts were damaged. I will be testing when I get the G1. Assassin board.

RMA the processor, RMA the power supply. Don't bother testing it, you might end up destroying something that is in good condition. I wouldn't recommend testing it on a G1 assasin board or else you might end up making a lot more free time.

BTW in the third-last paragraph, I mentioned about the "challenge" that Vishal put. I would like everyone who got screwed by the Rashi and Asus combo to give me their problem details (RMA no., name, phone no. etc) As soon as I get 15 names and numbers, I will send them to Vishal in response to his "challenge".

Ok, now if you run behind saving the challenge, then i don't think you will get your motherboard back.

It will be wise, if you are getting what is covered under the warranty terms.

I have checked with the store, where i get my parts. He told he can help you to fix this issue.

Finally the motherboards will be handed over to Rashi Peripherals in bangalore, which is little bit better than the one in Kolkata AFAIK

I will drop you a PM in the evening...till then hold your horse.

Eventually we have another friend in this Forum, who has nice experience with Rashi. "MEGAMIND". He is from Sivakasi, TN.

Even you can contact him, I'm sure he will help you too.

Anyways, my G1. Assassin arrived so I'll be rebuilding to handle it for now.

I've disconnected my loop for cleanup. For a while I'll be back on air.

my final communication with Asus was what has been posted here.
I won't collect the broken(repaired) board from Rashi. They can worship it for all I care.

Deb I haven't finished assembly yet. Will post a full array when i'm done.
