considering u dont need any other part u didnt mention,u can think upon this:

1) motherboard -> MSI/gigabyte 785g based mobo @4k
2) processor -> AMD athlon IIx4 630 @4.3k
3) ram -> 2*2gb ddr3 @5.2k
4) graphic card ->MSI HD 5770 @8.8k
5) smps ->corsair VX 450W @3.7k

total <26k

Which monitor do u have? Mention the resolution please.

Amd Athlon II X3 435 @ 4k
2 * 2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 5k
Biostar TA785G3 @ 3.7k
ZOTAC GTX460 768MB @ 12k
Corsair VX450W @ 3.7k

Total - 28.4k

nice config!

But why not Phenom X2 555BE + TA785G3 HD + 2GB DDR3 1333MHz

Unlocking will give sure performance as X3 and 2GB will decrease the cost.

unlocking is not a sure shot nowadays
because AMD has almost fixed the defected pieces
also there are many cases where unlocking x2 into x3/x4 leads to unstable environment
its so because x2 comes with the HSF which is not suitable for x3/x4 and dont forget the L3 cache too

Unlocking of the P2 555 has a pretty high success rate. This is because the yields have improved, not many fail for quad, but for AMD to continue the Dual core range, they lock 2 cores on a perfectly working quad. Hence you have a good chance to unlock on the newer P2s X2.

My friend yesterday brought PhX2 555BE and I successfully unlocked it to 4cores using Biostar TA890GX.

now read the temperature readings with 2 cores(ACC feature disabled) and 4 cores(ACC feature enabled)and post them here

what do you mean by that?

When you unlock the dual core into quad core, most of the times the temp diodes on the processor start to malfunction (give readings like -55C) , so what I meant is even with that "flaw" , unlocking rocks :p

This happens in most cases and not all though...

they dont malfunction
the temperature really rises

check the temp readings with coretemp utility

and then run an OCCT test/prime95 test and post the result

ok the thing is that
unlocking core is not a big deal
i heard it depends on luck

the main issue is the temperature readings
many users unlock and then worry about the soaring temperatures
its so because the HSF are designed for 2 cores and not four cores
thats why the temp rises

if someone wants to get rid of these temperatures,he should lower down the voltage i order to lower the speed of the cpu

considering 555BE @3.2ghz when unlocked to 955BE @3.2 ghz
one should lower the speed at 3ghz at least to make the optimum temperature

some guys here suggested me one thing and its very valid:
when i was about to buy my cpu i was wondering if i should also go for 550/555BE and unlock it
but then after unlocking the temp would rise ,this fact i knew
so in order to combat high temp i would have to buy a good heatsink
the new heatsink would be at least 1.5 to 2k

so why not buy the 4cores processor with a stock HSF like 955BE and keep aside any complications

thats what i meant
:)

very true!!!
that's why i normally discourage people from going the unlocking way!!
don't believe a word toms or guru3d says:neutral:
they are big douches who can't bring the truth out in the open in fear of prosecution!!:evil:
follow user experiences in Overclock.net forums
that's where the real facts lie!!

alright, but how bad are the temps? 45C ? 50C? generally speaking.....

If i buy a hyper 212+, i can easily OC an unlocked P2 555 be to 3.8GHz, whereas it would be hard on a stock HSF of a 955BE and the temps will be higher.

Temperature should no be made such a huge issue IMO, as long as it stays below 60C at load its safe...i remember the days when i had a pentium D 850, it used to run at 80C under load :p

Piyush

^^
yes temperatures at max load should be 60 or around it

and ideally it should be less than 40

but then it depends upon various factors such as cooling system , no of fans , room temperatures...bla bla bla

my max temperature u sually dont go above 52-53 degrees on max load
and ideally they are around 30-32 :D
