I want to buy an aftermarket car audio system preferably a 2DIN,for my Maruti Suzuki Ritz, due to be delivered in next three or four days.
Which are the best available Head Units and Speakers (door-mounted 2 front, 2 rear)? - cost not more than 20K and no grey market stuff.
Any suggestions from car-crazy Digiticians are welcome.:)

Hmm... get it installed by a professional, the acoustics of the car matter a lot. For your budget, you can easily get a good Blaupunkt amp, and go for JBL components. The head unit is a personal choice, a Panasonic will fit. Make sure it has audio as well as USB input, and an equaliser that can be adjusted. All of this will fit in the price you mentioned. The total setup should be somewhere in the range of 18K. Not counting any subwoofers here though.

^tbh i really dont like using any sorta equalizer for my music and i listen to albums more than songs so i'd have all my collection burnt on discs so i wouldnt want a usb input.the speakers are the only thing that matter.

btw i'm not getting a car in 09 atleast but when i will i'll keep these in mind

Finally, my Bakers Chocolate color Maruti Ritz (delivered on 26 Aug 2009) got ICEd on 27 Aug 2009,(ICE =In Car Entertainment system), with the following components.
1. Head Unit: 2 DIN JVC KW-XG705, (2YW),(Made in Indonesia), (MRP Rs.11990) --- Rs.10,200.

I wanted XG706 with a black face plate that will match the console but could not get. This one has a silver colored faceplate and stands out, but does not look too jazzy.

2. Front Speakers JBL 608 C, (6.5" 2way component system),(1YW),(MRP Rs.6999) ---Rs.5000.

As you can see in the image below the tweeter is fixed in the housing below the front door Quarter glass next to the inside mirror-adjust lever.

3. Rear Speakers,door-mounted, JBL 638, ( 6.5" 3 way ),(1YW),(MRP Rs.4490) ---Rs.3200.

4. Steering wheel Remote control JVC RM-RK39,( made in Malaysia - no bill) --- Rs. 1050.

5.Wiring Harness(Rs 150)+four wooden rings for fixing the speakers(Rs.300) --- Rs. 450.

Total cost: Rs. 19,900.

All the items were purchased from and installed by Sachins Auto Shop, Koramangala, Bangalore. No installation charges.

They did an excellent and fast job in about an hour. The four technicians had clean hands and tools and did not leave their finger prints all over the car's interior.Peace of mind.

The system sounds great and should be sufficient for a small hatch of this size.

Thanks to Sujoyp and others who set this thread rolling.

^Sorry dude, I did not enquire about the ipod and bluetooth add-ons,since I was in my own dream world and concentrated on the essentials.(All the same, I rejected the Pioneer 2DIN CD Receiver he offered, on the ground that it did not have bluetooth compatibility and 24-bit DAC :) )

Later on please as you see it fit, add good quality component cable along with a decent Amplifier.Trust me on this,it will be all together another level upgrade.

In the Driver's seat

The first time I saw her it was a "no no". To me the Swift itself looked ugly and so I was looking at Swift Dezire which is way better than Swift.
But within days I fell in love with her
and took her for a drive. She very emphatically convinced me that she is truly lovable.
The sales person informed me that they have a Bakers chocolate colour VXi( petrol) that will be mine in a day if I make the full payment. I liked the colour too (an unusual colour just like its unusual back and so a perfect match)) and grabbed her. Tomorrow I shall be in the driver's seat.I am indeed lucky to get her without any waiting.
