Get a trading account from Sharekhan, Reliance Money etc and link it to your bank account.

I use Reliance Money and the service is pretty good.

Plan wise ShareJhan is good. But its that U've to link ur bank account with it. Problem will be if u want to buy something right now and u don't have balance in ShareKhan account then its impossible to get cash instantly.
ShareKhan takes 1 day to transfer money from ur linked account.
UI is good and very user friendly.

I use ICICI Direct. Very costly but one of the most user friendly UI. If u open here u'l get one savings account for ICICI. They will be linked internally. Allocating cash from savings to DEMAT takes seconds.

Ummm, why don't u just go to some "Direct" offices. They are pretty much everywhere.

Rental 500/-
It takes approx 25/- per transaction. (sharekhan takes 21-23 something :) )
And security+transaction charge accumulates to 1/-

Try calling customer care. Its their business. They should. In my case, I got hold of them outside ma office gate:-D

As you have SBI account, try out SBI 3-in-1 account. They provide demat as well as online trading account. Trading is web based, but I heard they have software (ODIN something) too.

There's a offer currently running in which account opening charges are waived off.

I am a user and is quite satisfied. There are some small issues but who doesn't.

I am soon filling up for PAN card and DEMAT account :D
BTW no online share service has working office in Hassan,Karnataka except ICICI,SBI :(
My Dad advises traditional purchase/trading of shares via local brokerage firm is better  though it might take a day to complete the trading

Hey, if ICICI Direct is present in ur area, go for it. Its very easy and very user friendly UI.

I would like to keep things under my control.
