I have several AVI(xvid) videos. I'd like to add some text titles in each video, trim some part of the video, insert intro clips without reencoding/rendering the whole video again. What software should I use. It should be simple to use and fast.

If you meant DVD like menus, ConvertXtoDVD (not free) is the one u want. Everything's customable & pretty simple. Even "Nero" will let you do that but results are not that good as Convertxtodvd.

Video will be encoded to dvd format (mpeg-2) not much different than the crappy xvid codec unless you watch these in hdtv's. ;-)

add some text titles in each video,

Didn't understand this part. You mean subtitles??

Anyway, its not possible to do the things you want without re-encoding.

Thanks for your reply. I don't intend to convert the format. I just want to add some text titles in the existing avi file like the title of the video in the beginning and end. Or some scroll text in the middle of the video for about 10 secs.

Assuming its "Watermarking" you want. Mentioned "Avidemux" (its free) will do that for you. But you still need to re-encode.

Check under Filters>Miscellaneous after loading the video. Increase the "Video Bitrate" slightly to keep the quality.

OR

Check out "mkvtoolnix", it has better options. And MKV container can handle custom menus or watever you want.

You can't do this properly without a little reading. Check out sites like "doom9" or "Videohelp". Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I tried Avidemux. It allows text overlays, but the duraton can not be set and it does not support multiple entries.
