XP Hangs on playing video

Off lately I find that my XP (Professional SP2) just hangs after I close Windows Media Player. This happens only after playing video files.

However when I play video using Nero Show time no such freeze happens.
After the freeze, the only thing works is Reset! I looked into event viewer..there’s nothing in there. I have no clue why is it freezing.

Intsall K-Lite codec Pack and upgrade to MP 10 or 11 if you are having 9.

Which version of WMP do you have? Make sure it's not a beta version.
