Hi

I was working on my old computer just to check if I had any stuff I wanted, when suddenly the computer shut down. After that I tried to boot XP many times, but the same thing happened. On the boot screen, the progress bar would cycle 2 times, and then it would hang. I tried to boot from Safe Mode, but even then, when it shows the list of all drivers, it hanged.

Can you guys help me? Im clueless atm, on what to do.

Try to repair XP. Thats the best solution. :)
Boot using XP CD and follow the wizard. It'll detect the existing windows and will ask you to repair it. Accept it and follow the required steps.

i have tried repairing from bootable cd... but its does not show any recovery wizard... wheneve i select the repair (recovery console)... it just detect the windows and will ask u to select the windows partition in prompt thats it

its similar like this
select your windows partition to repair
1. Windows
enter your windows partition : (dont remember the exact lines)

one can just delete or copy some file thats all.

Don't try with repaire (recovery console) as u r not aware with tht; just go ahead pressing enter for installation, another list of options will come up to ask u for a selection - to install press enter / to repaire press R ... etc, then press R to select repaire it will work.

^I mean when it hangs at safe mod( showing loading drivers).
Same problem was there with me,safe mode hangs when loading tdi.sys, after 20 min i was able to log into safe mode, changed my refresh rate to 60hz which solved my problem.

I tried booting the XP CD, but the system completely ignores it. This has never happened before. Every time I boot in Safe Mode, it gets stuck on Mup.sys. I have no clue what to do. Any other advise.

Btw, I have no PCI card installed, everything is onboard.

Edit: I fixed it! Went into the BIOS, and set my CD Drive as the primary boot device. Booted XP CD, went into Recovery Console, ran chkdsk /r, and voila, everything is fine now.
