I am using lan 5 computers and misplaced the certificate of authenticity on which the XP product key is written now i want to install XP on another computer which is added shortly in the lan
is there any way to get the Windows XP product key from within Windows XP via regedit or some other process?????????????????????????

it's illegal to use Single user license XP on multiple computers....i thought he had 5 machine license...

u cant install an xp on more than one machine
unless u are formatting the one with the license key and using windows on a new one .. ur doing an ... pardon the pun ... "illegal operation"

ur xp license is for a single machine only
swat i suggest u remove that link ... apart from the fact that there were 2 topics on this earlier

Well as per Microsoft u can install a single licensed copy of Windows XP in a personal laptop computer (if u have one ) as a back-up copy of Windows XP and to do so u need not require to optain a separete license for it. But as far as Desktop Computers are concerned u cannot install a single licensed copy of Windows XP on two Desktop Computer , even as a back-up and this is not only illegal but also harmful for you and your computer, since after a limited period of re-installtion on different machines with different config, your XP CD will refuse to install even on the original machine and that to after a format so mind it man. You are creating trouble for yourself. Btw. What product key are you talking about ?? This is illegal here !!!

anyway, i think it's not illegal to retrive lost key (not for the purpose of installing it in another Comp, but for Backup) from an Authentic-Licensed WinXP.....isnt it??
