Windows XP Installation CAB hacking

:roll: Hy every one i'm a new kind a Cracker! Can any one of u pls tell me which file in the I386 win xp Installation folder contains win xp thems, which are placed in the WINDOWS/Resources folder after the installation!
Also in which cab file r the Defaut Pics, IE, MPlayer is placed? Pls b quick.
and which S/W can add new files to a Cab archive?

btw are u talkin abt winxp or win98??

wht u r talking abt cab is prevalent in win98 installation files

in winxp's i386 folder there arent much cab files except the driver cab file of 74 Mb

and well as far as i knw all the IE, Media palyer and stuff are in tht _format wherein the dll file wod hav the filename *.dl_ and similarly for other files

If you use WinRAR then you must be acquaint with it's find feature which lets you find specific files in a bunch of archives...

All these files which are not part of XP must be added to XP after the installation.

You can write BATCH files to copy the files to respective directory. And call the batch by placing the line to call the batch in cmdlines.txt file in you i386 folder.

You can also copy those files directly if you place them in $OEM$\$$\Resources

since all files from $OEM$\$$ are copies to your windows installation path, you can install many utilities directly in your PATH variable by coping them in $$\System32 folder. You can install fonts by placing them in $$\Fonts etc.

Hope this clears some of your doubts.

BUT WHICH S/W CAN ADD FILES 2 CAB FILE?

Look for makecab.exe to create cab files. You can use extract.exe for extracting existing cab files. Then recreate the cab file after you are done making changes...

makecab.exe is a command integrated in ur system
run it from command propmt !
