Windows XP in safemode

Got some files on pc which I m not able to remove. So I wanna boot into safemode and remove them. But I m not able to boot into safemode of Windows Xp. I got dual boot - Vista and XP. On starting my PC when I press F8 it shows me options to choose safemode and when I select safemode, Vista's safemode is started and not Xp's. Any idea what to do?

let the bootscreen apper to select from XP and vista.Select XP...press enter..and quickly start hiting F8 button.u will get the option to log in safe mode of XP.
