Today i went to my uncle's house as he called me up as he had soem prob with his PC. He said that yesterday while he was browsing the net, the system alerted an increase in system temp (p4) which he ignored (and usually does) and after some time suddenly while browisng, the system restarted and asked for a system disk and widnows didnt load.
So i went there and tried accessing windows in normal mode but then as the widnows laoding page goes the system restarts on its own . So i tried opeing widnows in safe mode due to which i saw some lisit of files on command prompt which i guess were loaded and then here it stops and restars all again. Now i inserted the bootable disk and a:> apperaed on the screem .From here i tried to access c: but it said invalid command . Then i tried accesing other drives including cd-rom drive to which again it said invalid command. I tried using the format comamnd but didnt work . Then i tried access BIOS but it didnt showup. I was continiusly pressing del from the point since the mobo screen diappers till the windows loading screen but cudnt get the BIOS page.
According to me i have 2 reasons which caused the prob. Either it is some kind of trojan or virus that infected the PC (the system dint have any firewall nor anti virus) or it could be that some part of hdd stopped functioning due to high temp.
So now what do i do? Agnivo asked me to reset the jumper on mobo . So is this the only way out or is there some other way..All suggestiions and experiecnes welcome

If u want to access DOS, try to boot using Win 98 CD, because the partition will be definitely NTFS, thats why its saying "Invalid Command".

For accessing BIOS, may be there is some different shortcut key in ur uncle's mobo. see carefully the first scrren when the system boots up, it should show the shortcut key to access BIOS, may be it <ALT>+some Function key...

Theres no official win boot floppy or cd for ntfs yet...
U can use nero for creatin one with ntfs support (new nero bootimage).

Remove the HDD from ur sys and reset the bios and try gain'.

I thinks this happens if WIndows encounters a fatal error on loading. Try repairing the OS using the WIndows XP installation Disk. That is insert the CD and boot from it and then run the repair feature.
