Damn! I always get my directions confused. Someone says "Take the left turn here" and I end up turning right....

well, i dont know, may be its just me...:(
the .mov files sucks in vista , most dont play at all.
the only player that plays them is KMP, not even QT, VLC plays some ....
as a result aftereffects, combustion, max ,and my compression programs occasionally crashes.

the end result ..........i moved back to xp . after trying all the hell to work successfully with vista. right now for me it sucks.

i guess it will take atleast 2 years for vista to be there on the track.

the only problem with xp is that GTA San Andreas kind a plays SUPER SUPER fast . like overkill for the game. but thats ok, atleast all my apps work well...:)

Wire muncher!
the reason why i believe led ppl to think that vista is a failure is coz of huge expectations.

consider this: windows 95 was a huge leap from dos + windows 3.11. however, since it was the first of its kind there were lotsa bugs (yes, i remember reporting a few to MS myself). when win98 came, it was integrated wid ie4.0, had small but significant interface changes and had most of the bugs ironed out. win98se was a major upgrade on the driver front wid support for WDM. it was more stable than win98 or win95 and even to this day win98se can be seen on many many old computerz.

however, this day when we had a mature OS in the form of winXP SP2 and applications like media player 10, ie6 for winxp and software like talisman, window blinds people had a huge set of resources at their disposal. so for a layman, whats new in windows vista? the aero, only? for him/her the underlying indiscernible new things (like the bsd borrowed network stack, new driver model etc.) mattered the least. the average joe expected much more from vista and wid things like the 'delete bug' (tho it didn't affect all), DRM rumour/confusion etc. added more fuel to fire. this is what led to vista's comdemnation and its comparison between to win98's success, in my opinion.

C# Be Sharp !
+1

The biggest advantage vista provides is that to Developers . The underlying Technologies , especially WPF n Speech API's n the whole new windows API provide a very very convenient way to program your apps .

Don't believe me ? here's a Simple program to synthesize speech in Vista in C# :

Code:
using System;
using System.Speech.Synthesis;

class Program
{
    static void Main(string[] args)
    {
        SpeechSynthesizer synth = new SpeechSynthesizer();
        synth.SpeakText("Hello, world!");
    }
}

Tasks like these which required hours of programming earlier can now be done in a Jiffy with the Vista API .
(the above code , for example requires just 2 statements )

Similarly Technologies like WPF + Expression Blend allow you to desing truly interactive Application Interfaces easily , just like you would in an Illustration Program like Adobe Illustrator .

So in short , the Majority of the changes in Vista are from the Inside rather than the outside . :)

Exactly. But the end user doesn't 'feel' any real difference cause the end user doesn't see the differences in code...
