Windows not shutting down

i have windows xp sp3, 378 mb ram, pentium 4 1.7 gHz processor.
one year ago, one of the computer mechanic changed something in my bios due to some problem and after that my computer is not shutting down.after clicking on turn off option, d windows shutting sound can b heard but d screen remains as it is,till i have to unplug it from power supply...
plz help.

Open the bios, advanced settings and turn off "wake on lan"
