In a system in my locality, there is this stubborn Win32 Services virus that is refusing to get killed. Though the system already had Norton 2005, it affected the system. When I tried to install some other programs on this machine, the SFX applications failed to get installed and reported CRC difference, that is as son as the program unpacked some files in the temp folder, they got modifies and as a result, I could not install many programs including Antivir that I had with me. I tried to boot with the Live Linux Bit defender, it too could not disinfect or remove this virus. Is there any other tool available for this??

Can you give us a few more details such as the name of the file infected or a process in the task manager?

A screen shot of the Task Manager>Processes would be helpful.

In the mean time try a free online virus scan.

Phew, Thats what I'm trying to put accross, "" Norton AV "" doesnt detect that virus.

Instead of that use NOD32 to remove or elimnate the c r a p in the system.

But what is the virus. there are many fixes available on NOD site for various worms.virus.

there are many fixes.

I'd the same w32 virus and trojan, NOD32 detected but the only option it had was to delete or leave. So i pressed on delete, the file was deleted. The next time i rebooted the Pc and clicked on softwares,IE, Oulook Express it said missing dll file ... This was the file that Nod32 deleted. Thwen I'd to copy the same file from my uncles drive and out it in the windows directory.

I would say, scan your system one more time with online viruses scanner.

Its a big download and I dropped the idea of geting NOD32. Better Digit gives this on CDs. I prefer to format and reinstall Windows I think. Even if the NOD deletes all exe files, whats the purpose to get that??

Aijaz .. If you can try posting the HijackThis logfile of the infected system .. We may help you in removing it ..

HijackThis is a small download .. Just under 200 Kb .. You can copy it in a floppy and run it on the infected system .. Just save the logfile which it creates and post it here ..

It doesnt come up on the hijack log. It is a virus or a trojan. The only way is to use a virus cum trojan cleaner like NOD32[removes], KAV[doesnt remove but detects].
