Try running it in safe mode. You can enter in safe mode by pressing F8 while computer is booting.

The simple answer is, you can't force windows if it don't want to. You either heve to say ok to check on the next restart, or try what vishal_bhatia87 sez.

how do I force win xp to do a chkdsk without having to restart my pc?
go to command prompt ( start -> run -> type "cmd" )
and type
Code:
chkdsk C:
it will perform chkdsk .. without restarting .. it does so on my comp
chkdsk /F or chkdsk /R require restarts
