Hi, i am going to install Mac OS X Leopard on my dell insriron 1505.
I am not going to ask here where i get the files or how i should do it.
But i need information regarding my config. Its as follows:
Intel 1.83GHz dual core
2GB RAM DDR2 @ 400MHz
256 MB ATI X1400 graphics card
Intel pro/wireless
1394 network
250GB SATA hard disk
Sigmatel Audio HD
Blue tooth, DVD writer 8x dual layer
this is my main config

my question is, will the Mac OS Leopard run smoothly and at a great speed ? Because when i installed 10.4.6 last year, the performance was dead slow... Even XP was much better.
So guys pls dont say that this is illegal and advice me about the compatibility of my system... And how well the Leopard does on my dell laptop...
I am a fan of Mac always... Really want to shift from windows to a much better & stable OS...
Atleast tell me for sure that latest OS from apple is much faster on intel chips compared to their previous version OS...

Yeah, I know you already requested not to tell you this but this is the only answer your question merits: If you’re a fan of Macs then get a Mac. A normal computer running Mac OS X is not a Mac. A goat wearing a lion’s mask is still a goat underneath it.

The fact that you liked Mac OS X even when it was running illegally on an incompatible machine and was as slow as Windows just goes to show how much you’ll like it when it’s running properly on a Mac. Leopard would run like a charm on the kind of spec sheet you have there if it were a Mac, but since it’s going to be a hackint0sh, it’s going to be slow, riddled with various issues and incompatibilities and will be no better than Windows.

I’m not advocating Macs here. Don’t buy it if you cannot afford it or don’t want to, but if you want Mac OS X, you gotta have a Mac. There are no two ways about it. If you have to go through the pain of figuring out how to install Mac OS X and keep it running somehow, you’ve already defeated the purpose of using Mac OS X. It’s an OS that installs in just one click on a Mac and almost never hangs or crashes or anything of the sort. That’s what the Mac experience is supposed to be. If you aren’t getting that, it’s better to run Windows only.

Go ahead, install it if you must, but you’ve been warned.

Since discussions of this nature are expressly disallowed on the Digit forum, I’m reporting this thread.
