jeally beans won't save your day. is has poor internals and is simply overpriced. what if Sony later denies update because internal wise Xperia U is superior.

Invest money in mobile with better hardware. Android 4.0 is sufficient and by the time Xperia J receives JB update, Android 5.0 will be out. And because of lack of ram as well as processing power Project Butter can't be implemented (i doubt it'll be turned on).

PS: Project Butter is mainly triple buffering hence increasing smoothness.

thanx sam.... 4 ur reply...xperia u is better than xperia j... but y then sony has not extended JB update to it, which gives an impression dat xperia j can be taken forward.
anyway... is there an alternative for xperia j other than xperia u(as it plagued by memory shortage)... can afford to spend few 2ks more... want to zero on best mob wid dual core and front camera at this price point.....pls guide...

Xperia U has better chipset which means better GPU which will require more ram (ram is shared between Android OS & GPU) and the free ram mayn't be sufficient. Second reason can be what you said. Lack of internal memory but Sola too won't receive JB update despite having expandable memory.

But 512MB ram is sufficient. Problem is the bloated UI Sony adds on top of default user interface. Without those UI, 512MB will be sufficient for JB update.

Under 15k, go for Xperia U. Later you may switch to custom rom which i am sure will be plenty to choose from.

Plus, Even though XU has just 4gb non expandable internal memory, Sony has provided USB OTG feature too.. So not to worry about storing videos n songs or backups... :)
