i had been having the exact same problem but now i've solved it.
this is how:
i got a high speed 2048kbps broadband connection and a linksys wireless-g adsl home gateway modem(other modems and connections can also be used of course)i connected all the proper cables and entered all the necessary information in my gateway(to find out your gateway double click the flashing internet icon to the bottom right and then click the support tab)
enter your gateway and configure it to your needs(be sure to enable wi-fi)
then make sure the internet works properly,
after that, go to the control panel and click 'wireless network setup wizard'
configure it on both your pc and your laptop by following the instructions in the wizard and your wireless network will be ready to go???
i might have accidentaly skipped a part so if it doesn't work post a thread.
