Now days I think a Good Mobile with MP3 playing support is a better option yes, i know ur budget is a concirn, but when u think of Buying both together, a good mobile is certainly a better option, One of my frnd bought a 2GB MP3/FM player of Creative for some RS. 3300 /- few months ago, by that some time another of my frnd bought Nokia 5200 for some 6.2k, though the price of the phone is higher than that MP3 player, but in the end we felt that Phone was certainly a better buy than that MP3 device...

Yes its Plug and play like any USB storage drive... but make sure the USB port is 2.0 as otherwise will take hell lot of a time

Yes, and another advantage is that you can add memory and nowadays memory has become very cheap. Sony walkman series is a good choice but their memory stick, m2 stick etc are costlier.
