re: which tablet to get from usa(<450)
Hey. Me and my pals here gifted one of our friends Asus TF300 as farewell gift. So, i got to use quite a fews tabs during the review process.
What my general perception was that, 7" tabs just looked like giant phones.
8.9" or higher, looked like serious tabs.
But anyways, Nexus is pretty smooth in performance, with limited storage, but timely updates. Asus Transformer 201 is damn good too, same as Nexus on a larger and brighter screen and metal body. T300, same as T201 with same screen as Nexus and plastic back. T700, same as T201 with full HD screen. This one definitely lagged a bit compared to others. So, stay away from full HD monitor Android tabs for now.
Plus, T300 screen looked sharp enough for normal usage. The graphics on all these are pretty stunning. Dead Trigger on Tegra 3 is a feast for the eyes.
Acer tabs didnt have the refined feel when in hand. They looked kinda thick.
Asus somehow seem to be having the best JB update track so far. All these tabs are in JB now. (Probably cause the UI is very similar to stock Google) The volume in all these devices are a bit low, so u might wanna use volume booster to boost the levels.
If you have the dough, u may wanna consider Note 10.1 . I used the Tab 10.1, and as per me, it lagged in comparision to Transformer series. The reviews say Note is fast, and the processor makes the reviews quite believable. Havent tried Note meself anywhere. But my friend got it in India, and the feedback i got was that its fun to use, no lags any time, and Pen is good. Though the multi screen thing is more of a publicity stunt, only one screen will be active at a time. The other process will be running in background. It will come to life when u select it. The tech isnt complete as yet.
So, my sugestions, for 7", Nexus 7 32GB(as per rumours), and for 10", T201/T300 or Note 10.1 as per ur budget.
I wont suggest Apple at any point, cause am pretty much against their products.
But just for referrence, iPad 3 does have the best screen i have seen on a tablet. Even the full HD T700 doesnt come near it (partially, cuase of the stuttering/lagging interface). I havent seen the Kindle Fire HD though, so cant compare with that.
Warranty wise, Transformer series have global warranty. Not sure for Samsung, but i hope so. Nexus doesnt. But u will be able to get it repaired through Asus anytime.
