In that case sell your motherboard and get a new one. 8 grand on a Pentium D now is completely insane when the E6300 is less than 9k.

?guys plz suggest a P-D (around 8000)
If ur budget is 8k & ur mobo is not c2d compatible & if u absolutely must get a PD than go for D820 but with 8k budget 4 proc alone u shud seriously consider dumpin ur old sys n get a E6300 & a mobo to go with it but going for D945 does seem insane besides it costs more than 8k

It costs exactly 8350 according to www.deltapage.com
All prices quoted by deltapage r EXCLUDING taxes + webpage rates usually hide the street price to attract customers u can check in lamington road n u will find a significant difference...the ram prices u quote r approx 1k less than the street price...pls check street price.

The prices on www.deltapage.com are on the higher side if anything. Check the prices for monitors, DVD writers, cordless keyboards and mice, speakers etc. They're all available in Lamington road for the same or slightly lesser price.
Maybe in your city they'e priced higher but certainly not in Lamington road.

I'll quote several prices from the site and many people can confirm that these products cost the same or less.
Samsung 940BW Rs. 15,600
Sony DVD writer Rs. 2,400
Creative 2.1 SBS370 Rs. 1,225
Seagate 80GB SATA Rs. 2,300
Seagate 160GB SATA Rs. 2,975
Asus A8N-E Rs. 5,650
Asus P5LD2-VMSE Rs. 4,900

No website will quote wrong prices because it's not like a person will buy without comparing prices from several different places.

I live in Mumbai & I work at Opera House so I frequent Lamington road several times a month. I have been checking on prices there for the past 1 month since I've just went thru an upgrade...could u give me a name of the shop in Lamington road that is giving D945 for Rs.8350?...hey no offence coz i want to know if I'm being overcharged.

The only reason I said that D945 is for 8350 is that deltapage says so and most of their prices are correct. It's not like I have personally checked the price at Lamington road.
You could try Computer Culture or Cassette World both opposite Grant Road police station.

most probably ill go with 945 or 940
thanx for all the help
If I get it right then those processors themselves cost 8K each. So, what about the mobo? It would be better to buy a C2D e6300 then.
If you have 8K for processor + mobo then Pentium D 820 is the best option.

I called up deltapages in Chennai today (after they failed to send a reply to my e-mail) and & spoke to Kamal (on 044-28547698) and he has informed me that the prices are for bulk buying EXCLUDING tax the price for individual buyer is different...he kept telling me that he has seen my e-mail & will send me a reply but did not which clearly shows that deltapage is unwilling to gaurantee the price they quote there...guess it is a ploy to get customers to flok to them...the major hurdle for any vendor is getting people to know who they are and what they sell, what better way than to misguide customers into thinking that it is the right price so they can get a lot of customers visiting their site...as you know websites are about how many visitors you can get...so companies like deltapages can get sponsorers, showing large number of visitors to their site.
Also I know Computer Culture very well and they are not hardware retailers, they are into software & books, they do NOT have any harware displayed in their store and they get hardware for you if you place the order and that too they get it from another retailer...you can check it up if you don't believe me...Computer culture is selling D945 at Rs.9600...I will also check with Casette World & get back to you.
When you go by the prices listed by deltapages it is ONLY applicabble to Chennai residents plus you need to add in another few hundred rupees more even for Chennai residents. Anyone outside of Chennai, they must add vat/sales tax+octroi (whatever is applicable in that state) which will bring the prices to approx Rs.1000 more. You can check it out for yourself.
The bottom line is deltapages prices are TOTALLY inaccurate by a BIG margin if it is outside of Chennai & within chennai itself it is a couple of hundred buks off the actual price...don't need to believe me..do your own research & you'll know that it is true

D805 in Mumbai costs Rs.6500 and that is the ONLY one within your budget D945 is Rs.9500 in Mumbai and Rs.8800 in Chennai. The prices given are including taxes / vat & OR octroi.
