Can you hear it..??
hi all,

plz help me guys...i wish 2 buy a new system for doin highend graphics and a bit of gaming..which processor should i go for..? Initially i thought abt AMD 64 bit...but few told me tht ,in case of games, only few of them work in 64bit..while others will create dashes on screen(even roadrash did so).And for getting the best of these 64bit processor, applications should be created so.Do the s/w's like
Maya,3DS Max,photoshop,After Effects etc work fine in this machine..??
Is it better to have a p4..?? Heard AMD is better wen worlkin on graphics...what is the solution..?

Now...what graphics card should i go for.., giv me the one tht
works great with animation works...Heard Geforce 6800 ultra is good..
how much it'll cost..(heard it is expensive)..which are the other cards tht will serve the purpose...???

Thanking You.

extra precautions before going for AMD

Its true AMD is good for graphics but before you clutch your hands on it make sure for a really, really nice cooling solution and a high end motherboard to complement for your gigahertz monster. I advice you to have a nice cooling solution as AMDs generate a lot of heat and coupled with your graphics card you may face heating problems like crashing or even blowing out your motherboard or processor. more over choose a large well ventilated cabinet or else you will have a sun underneath your cabinet.
I am telling this to you as I have already faced this problem...

In fact as of today, AMD processors are lot cooler than their Intel counterparts. Intel P4 have got a new name as preshot instead of prescott-its code name because of heat problems with it.

AMD definately. The 64-bit advantage that AMD provides makes it much more future-proof. Chances are that 64-bit versions of all major apps like 3ds Max, maya etc. will be available soon. So don't take chances with Intel.

Regarding the graphics card, if you are serious about animation and prof. design etc, then look for a professional card! For eg, the nVidia Quadro. Check out this document:

at least 50% of this forum members may now b aware that im gonna buy a AMD 64-bit PC ......

i jus wanted to know if the following config will last for another 2 years atleast without getting outdated (exclude RAM)

ATI RS480 motherboard -------
Athlon64 3000+ ---------------------
512MB DDR400 RAM ZION -----
160 GB SEAGATE SATA Rs.---

i know this is a silly question as no one knows whats gonna come tomorrow in this field. but in the normal curve will this take me thru the 64-bit revolution which will b hitting home PCs?

I think you should wait for the dual core AMD processors as they may hit the market soon. That will surely last two years with out any problem. Or You may go for the above configuration but check whether your motherboard supports dual core AMD. I heard that many of the existing AMD socket 939 mother board will be compatible with the new dual core with a flash update of bios.

what abt the mobo which i have mentioned?
can i not fit the dual-core processor whenever i need it in place of the older AMD one?? is flashing of BIOS necessary?

ATI RS480 motherboard ------- Rs.6500
the above is cost of the mobo i m gonna buy.
but i think the dual-core one will cost a lot more than that....

Gfx card ,
Go for a nVIDIA 5700 256 mb /- 6500 rs. (Try Gainward)
A higher card is 6600 128 Mb /- 11k-13k rs. (Try XFX).
Never Try ATI b'cause I hate that thing!!!!
