I stay in India, bangalore. I want to buy a AMD 3000+ (939) processor as an upgrade to my computer from AMD Athlon 2600+. ASROCK K7S41GX 120 GB HDD 512 RAM.

I dont know which mother board to settle for and also which chipset, ATI RAEDON OR NVIDIA NFORCE.

My budget for motherboard is around Rs. 4500.(US 100$). ON AResearch on net i have come across follwing boards:
1) MSI RS450M2-IL
2) MSI K8N NEO PLATINUM
3) MSI RS482 SERIES
4) WINFAST NF4K 8MCI.

If board graphics is good then i will not go for a graphic card.

Also i am thinking of going for some good ASUS MB for around Rs. 3K and go for a graphic card.

COMPUTER GURUS PLZ HELP ME !!! HELP NEEDED URGENTLY !!! I WANT TO PURCHASE COMPUTER BY THIS WEEK END

goin for an external GFX card totally depends on ur requirements

dont expect a good on board graphics to beat an normal external GFX card

as far as choice of mobo is concerned

with on board graphics

MSI-RS480M2-IL wins hands down
cost = Rs 4900

without onboard graphics
i havnt got an idea abt a good board comin for 3k

for the GFX go for XFX geforce 6200
cost= Rs 3500

and the chipset as far as i see it maybe nvdia nforce is slightly better
but boards from MSI are based on ATI ... (atleast most of them!!!)

Dude u wont get MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum for 4.5k,it costs more then 6k and it dont eva hav a onboard grapix.for onboard grapix as vijay said MSI RS480/82 is the best u can get,else if u will b goin for external gpu then i'll suggest u to go for ASUS A8NE mobo but that 2 wont come for 4.5 and even this mobo dont hav a onboard gpu.

all that is said above holds good...

I'd just like to add that look around for boards based on nVidia 6100 chipset

dude, even i'm upgrading from a 2600+ to a 3000+ 939 socket processor. I've decided to go for the Asus A8N-E after a lot research on this forum and outside. What is ur decision??

Take a look at Gigabyte GA-K8N51PVMT-9 Here.

It is nice solution if you want featuers of nforce4 along with onboard graphics.

i dont think how u guys get in confusion with the 2 motherboards....

If u have enough money to purchse a good graphics card...
Something better than or equal to 6600 plain.... then get A8N-E

If ur tight on budget... get RS482...
what's the confusion...

yeah if u'r confused on budget and looking best value for money.... RS482...
