Hello,
for the past 3 years am running a seagate sata(Model: ST380013AS) 80 GB hdd.the problem is when it writes to hdd,an cracking sound is heard from the beginning itself.
Many of my friend's said that hdd is gonna fail soon.but it works and when i run smart test in Linux,it shows the hdd is OK.
Does it worth if i run some hdd drive tests(diagnostic) tools.which tools do you suggest?
Is it true that hdd manufacturer's tools will not detect many errors?so waiting for your suggestion.

also i read somewhere that due to some problems these particular hdds are not muted/silenced(acoustic management not available) by seagate.is it true?can i rest in peace.=== START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION ===
