Hi all,

I am on a quest for finding various DVD Players that have support for
Divx,Xvid + AC3,Mp3 +Srt,Sub (Subtitle) - Avi support.

Currently i have found

Philips DVP642K Divx DVD Player.
- which has support for DVD,VCD,SVCD,Divx,Xvid,PhotoCD,MP3CD
- Subtitle support for AVI files - .SRT , .SUB
- Media:- DVD+R/RW,CD-R/RW,DVD-Video
- DVD+R/RW as the site does not mention about DVD-R/RW
- DTS and AC3 Decoder
- Video Out - Svideo,ComponentVideo,Normal Video
- Audio Out - Optical,Digital,Analog 6Outputs(FrontX2 RearX2 Center Subwoofer)
- This player can also be made region free within a few clicks on the remote.
- Divx and Xvid cannot be forwarded rest all DVD,VCD etc can be.
- Mainthing its Firmware Upgradable , Philips site releases firmware updates to update its player.
- Mumbai Cost Rs.5949 (Its a Steal for what it offers)

Well i would like to know if there are are more players like this one available in India.

OFcourse we are interested but then if you search you can find there has lotsa discussion already been done here regarding this. What you have posted above is known to most people on this forum.
Tell me something about making own Receiver that accepts digital in Audio for 5.1 implementation and making normal AV Tv receiver accept RGB or composite connection without conversation but true high quality real time Video.
Will be more useful and thankful to you then.

after vast reading it has been found that the Philips DVP642K has mixed
reviews

some say that the player does not play DVD-R/RW media at all.
some say that it does not play Xvid files properly.
some say that the processor gets heated and no ventilation at all.
some say that Xvid+AC3 file playback problem - this is what i hate
as all the dvd backups i have are Xvid-AC3
