I purchased 512MB Kingston DDRII ram 667mhz , I was having a 512 MB Stick earlier that too of kingston DDRII 667 MHz. But both of them have different chips, the new one is having Hynix chip and the older one has s64320.
I have installed both of them in same color slot of My mainboard, and now they are showing as dual channel memory(in CPU-z). Is it safe to have installed the two ram in same color slot? pleas throw some light.....

For dual channel u need to have similar modules i.e. the same number of memory banks , even from diff. manufacturers will do ...

Its good that they are detected in dual-channel mode .. u need not worry .. keep using ur computer as u do in general .. If u get random BSOD's or sudden restart then report back ..

As about which slot to use .. it differs for most mobo .. some use consecutive slot for dual-channel config .. and some use alternate slots ... just depend of the mobo manufacturer ....
