I assume you are referring to loop back IP address. If not, excuse my ignorance 
Loop back IP address 127.0.0.1 is used to test the TCP/IP protocol stack on your network interface (NIC/wireless). It is an IP address which you will never use in practical scenarios. A successful ping to this IP address indicates that TCP/IP is functional on your computer's network interface.
