Hi guyz.. I have seen amd 690G based motherboards in itwares and this forum. Someone mentioned that these are better mobos and that these are mATX form factor (except for gigabyte). I didnt understand the difference. What would be the advantage of 690G over the nvidia chipset ones? Please tell me the differences between them. What with the micro ATX form factor? and ATX form factor? what do they really specify? Suggest me a better mobo for AMD Athlon 5200+ or 5600+ proccy. I am into gaming and programming.

> One more query.. What does 'HDMI enabled' and 'dvi enabled' mean? What are they? Please explain.

1. Samsung 740NW 17"
2. Samsung 920BW 17" (this is cheaper than 740NW)
3. Viewsonic 17" (dont know model. please give the model no if u know.)
4. BenQ 17" (someone in the forum said that this is better for gaming. dont know the model no.)

690G is the latest chipset by AMD(ATI). It has good performance, but rite now, it is only available for the AMD Platform and quite unlikely that it would extend it for Intel... (Intel does not create chipsets for AMD Proccys :D)

Moreover in addition to d onboard graphix, dis's the first series of mobos featurin onboard hdmi...

5.1 channel surr sonud + HD content jus on a single cable like d USB!!!!

A good VFM mobo...

Not advisable fer o'clockers n hard core enthusiasts....

Well...

HDMI fer High Definition Multimedia Interface...

It is a modern replacement for older analog standards such as RF - coaxial cable, composite video, S-Video, SCART, component video and VGA, and the consumer electronics replacement for older digital standards such as DVI (DVI-D & DVI-I).

HDMI also includes support for 8-channel uncompressed digital audio at 192 kHz sample rate with 24 bits/sample as well as any compressed stream such as Dolby Digital, or DTS.

HDMI is backward-compatible with the single-link Digital Visual Interface carrying digital video (DVI-D or DVI-I, but not DVI-A) used on modern computer monitors and graphics cards. This means that a DVI-D source can drive an HDMI monitor, or vice versa, by means of a suitable adapter or cable, but the audio and remote control features of HDMI will not be available.

Okie??? :D
