What are the probable causes of a dead CPU?

My computer was not booting, so i tried the regular battery of tests.
Now, I can safely say that the reason behind the failure is the CPU.What would a cause a CPU to die?

The computer is "running". Fans are on, lights work, but the GPU fans are locked in a loop, like WHRRRR pause WHRRRRR.

No display on either the gpu, or the mobo.

Recently got the mobo RMA'd (yesterday, coz i thought it was the mobo which was causing problems), and the GPU works properly on another computer.
I think the UPS is at fault here... its an intex model.

Try reseating CPU and RAM.

Un assemble every part of your cpu and than assemble it again than tell us what happens.

ok, the ram was faulty using 4 sticks of ram, so, on a hunch, i plugged them in one by one.
turns out, one of the slots was bad, and 2 ram sticks were bad.

a 2nd test later, the 3rd ram stick started showing instability and gave me lots of BSOD's. so im down to 1 stick of 2 gb ram

tossed the other 3 sticks out for rma. playing the waiting game now.

reset CMOS... ..

wont help in this case.

CPU != cabinet.

anyway, i did this 2 times before, to check the psu and gpu. it didnt do anything. i only got to know of the problem when i plugged in the ram sticks individually.
