Right off the assembly line
recently i came up with a need for my webcam to be mobile. so i tried an USB extension cable of length 5 meters. i tried two different cables but neither of them worked. one gave an error of unrecognized USB device, while the other said that the attached USB device can function at higher speeds. also in the second case the webcam was detected but i could not use it. is there any way to work around it? i'm even willing to go for an wireless webcam if it is available. can you please give the details for such webcam?

I had used 4 extension cables connected end to end to form a 8 metre long cable with this camera from Quantum

There were some initial problems as the supply went weak at such lengths, but after changing the cables, everything became Ok

I guess you need a powered usb hub to which u need to connect the usb extension cable so that it can work with the camera.
