Ok guys, I'm thinking of buying a new PC. My budget is around 40K, for mainly gaming and multimedia purposes. Please post configurations over here and approximate price. Thanks.

I have a vague idea of what I need.

Intel Core 2 E6300-E6700 ??
ASUS P5B Deluxe/ Gigabyte P956 / G965
Corsair 2GB DDR2 (533 Mhz and above)
Seagate Barracuda (ST3500641AS) 500 GB SATA II
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT/GTS (Or any good DX10 compatible card)
Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700

First of all I want to know whether this is in my budget or not. Feel free to lower any of the specifications I have provided to fit the whole PC into my budget. I have to buy everything, i.e. UPS, Keyboard, Mouse, etc. in the 40K. So please leave about 5-6K for that :).

Seagate Barracuda (ST3500641AS) 500 GB SATA II -> Rs 8000

I suggest that you go for AMD X2 based system instead of C2D because you will get better Value for Money and will be able to spend more on your gfx card...

@Tech Genius

Where have you lifted the prices from? Coz prices on eBay are highly unreliable. I think the price for the HD you quoted is way too high. I'll have to settle for a 250 GB in such a case.

EDIT : My friend has Seagate Barracuda 250 GB SATA II which he bought for Rs. 3500! So your price is definately wrong.

@adithyagenius

Same question to Tech Genius, 8600 GT for Rs. 6500??? I'm ready to buy it right now :) .

@sakumar79

OK, fine, could you tell me which AMD processor would fit my budget + satisfy my needs?

@sam9s
Thanks, dude. But I'm a complete movie buff who prefers only DVD/HD format and high definition audio. So will Altec Lansing be able to please me?

OK, one thing in general to all, I wanted to know whether the config I stated over here is compatible or not? I mean does the mobo support the RAM etc.
Furthermore, I forgot to tell you guys, the other things, are also to be included in the 40K budget. Those are -
Monitor (No craze for LCD, I'll do with CRT but minimum 19 inches)
Cabinet (I don't know anything about this, you guys have to guide me)
Mouse + Keyboard (I don't need a "gaming" keyboard, anyy normal stable keyboard would do.)
UPS ( I don't know what power/voltage backup is needed for this config)
TV Tuner Card (if I can fit it in, no probs in leaving this now)

From tech genius's post, C2D E6300 and ASUS P5B Deluxe together comes to Rs 17200... May I suggest AMD X2 5600+ for 10500 and ASUS M2AVM-HDMI for 5100 (total 15600)... But I request others to also comment on this combination - will the processor and motherboard match each others performance?

BTW, if you are into overclocking, I am told that the C2Ds are much better overclockers than the X2s...

Yes, I am a English movie buff, par itna bada nahi. Right now I have a Samsung LNS2651D 26" LCD HDTV + Pioneer HTS-GS1 5.1-Channel Surround Sound System. I have a collection of about 150 DVDs and a few VCDs. I watch these movies in my free time, to relax, but not as a compulsion.

This PC that I'm assembling is actually for my Bhaiya (not real brother, he lives next door, we both watch movies together at my home). We both share the same passion, and he wants a system like mine, but unfortunately he can either afford a PC, or a home theater. He choose to buy a PC :D.
