Hi,

All of a sudden, my sony DVD-RW stopped working and the reason is that, in the device manager, the device is marked with a yellow exclamation mark... it says the driver is corrupted... now i can insert vista DVD also... i asked it to check online... it says the driver is "up to date"!! crazy windows!

can any1 tell me how to reinstall driver?

Try rolling back drivers and then refresh the device manager.. it should automatically detect the drive and install drivers from the installed drivers from your windows copy. That should work actually. you might actually need the installation files thats on the windows cd which you can load it in any another optical drive you have. If this doesnt work try downloading the drivers from sony website or driverguide.com or any of your favourite driver site..

Wire muncher!
if that doesn't work then right click on the device and click uninstall. reboot, let windows detect the drive and load the drivers.
