Hello Guys! After a long time....

Recently my Defy battery passed away and I am up for a stop gap new android phone. Have plan to buy a high end phone in future (probably in a year or so).

1. Budget

No bar so far, but want a VFM! The cheaper the better. Since newly employed and will get a CC in a few days, I can extend my budget if needed but you know, mummy se jhad padegi :p

2. Display type and size?

Its important. Need a crisp and vibrant coloring and good visibility in sunlight. touch should be smooth.
size btwn 4 to 5. 4.7 or 4.5 preferable. Thinner is better. Don't want a rubberized back.

3. Form Factor? bar, slider, flip?

Bar of course

4. Preferred choice of brand?

Not much a fan of Samsung, but won't throw off the table yet. Not much brand conscious, but replacement should be available. ( not like my defy battery, I can't find a new replacement and a good quality battery is around 4k in ebay GEB ).

5. Preferred input method (QWERTY, touchscreen, numpad, touch-n-type).

Full touchscreen.

6. What camera option you want? Please specify need for flash, autofocus, front facing camera.

Flash and AF. Dual flash welcome. a front facing camera is good but not a must have. Dedicated shutter key is not important.

7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).

Android. open to windows also but android preferable since lots of paid apps in my bag. Thanks to google promotions.

8. Preferred connectivity options (3G, Wifi etc)Please specify clearly.

3g, Wifi (hotspot enabled). Dont know the differance btwn blutooth 3.0 and 4.0. NFC is good to have.

9. Preferred applications (Flash, Swype, GPS, etc)?

All of the three.

10. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, mails, internet, gaming etc)?

Music, Mails, few games, Camera and little bit Development.

11. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?

Xperia M, Xperia L, Xolo Q800, Optimus L9, Nexus 4.
Blown away with the hands on of HTC one and the specs of Oppo F5. But 40k is too much right now and $ conversion rate bets against oppo F and R819

12. Any other info that you want to share

Will root the phone within a month, good collection of custom rom preferable. A nice screen is important, so does a smooth performance.

One important thing to add, Gorrila Glass or Dragon Trail Glass required

I think Samsung Galaxy S4 would be great for u(if u can afford it ~35k). It has a great screen with good viewing angles n sunlight visibilty(due to AMOLED). Its battery is removable, good battery life, good custom ROM support, its dimensions are less for a 5" phone(comparable to One, a bit longer in length when compared to Nexus 4) & available for 35k(lesser than One).

Other option is Sony Xperia Z @ 31-32k. Screen is good but non removable battery & weaker processor+GPU when compared to S4 & One. Also AMOLED screens have better sunlight visibilty than LCD.

Sony Xperia ZR
is a great phone at 27k. It is water proof & has great battery life(better than Xperia Z). But Optimus G is said to have better battery life.

Nexus 4 is true VFM phone at 24.5k. All its specs are great for the price. Its only cons are poor battery life(poor due to other phones at same price have better battery life) & 16GB internal storage w/o SD card support(12.9GB user accessible storage is enough for most people)

Xperia ZR
+ Expandable Memory
+ Water resistant
+ removable battery
- don't get first updates like nexus 4 but get fast OTA updates
Nexus 4
+ get first update through google

My vote goes to Xperia ZR

Nexus 4 or Sony Xperia SP Both are great.
Specially Xperia Sp IS now available around 22k

SP is dual core. for 22k, I'm getting a dual core krait where nexus 4 is a quadcore krait 300 for 25, beside sp has a TFT screen, not IPS. Any idea how is it?

Nexus 4 & get real android experience at much lower a price than others. Battery life is a con in every Android. But Google is offering a lot in this lower price tag.

The main reason I don't wanna buy Samsung, cause I don't like the design. when you see the person next to you brings a samsung out of your pocket, you can't be sure whether it is grand, or S3 or s4 or quattro. Beside if I'm gonna pay 35k, I will add 3k more and buy HTC one.

Other option is Sony Xperia Z @ 31-32k. Screen is good but non removable battery & weaker processor+GPU when compared to S4 & One. Also AMOLED screens have better sunlight visibilty than LCD.

Again don't wanna go at that range yet.

ZR, G and N4.. well into consideration.

MY vote goes for LG nexus 4 it is the true VFM mobile phone in current market :)

+1, I also think so, But G and ZR are also close range.

Xperia ZR
+ Expandable Memory
+ Water resistant
+ removable battery
- don't get first updates like nexus 4 but get fast OTA updates
Nexus 4
+ get first update through google

My vote goes to Xperia ZR

Heard there's a problem with ASF, scratches and guarantee

Lg otimus G. You can get it for 25k from groupon.co.in

Great spec, but reports on battery drains very quickly and substandard camera.

Is there any good dual sim phone available in this range? all my online activity is on my Kolkata sim, but I am getting good deal in 3g in my Pune sim.
I'm planning to buy a flagship phone like HTC 2 or Edge (if it's actually built) in a year. So this one might be a stop gap phone. Don't wanna reach high unless it's ultimately VFM ie, getting something extra ordinary.

don't waste your money on Nexus 4 or Sony Xperia SP as your requirements are really low and you won't even play high end games. Huawei Ascend P1 has got sexy looks plus super AMOLED screen with corning gorilla glass, which fulfills your basic requirement of having a good screen and very responsive touch

Plus it is very slim and looks like above 25K phone. save money and get a 16GB class 10 memory card with the remaining amount.

If brand not important then even Xolo Play is a good device.Otherwise Xperia L is the way to go.There is not much to gain from going above Xperia L.Price to performance ratio comes down after that though i will make an exception for Nexus 4 because it will surely get KLP which Xperia L/SP/ZR may not get.
