Value for money VR Android Phone

Hi Guys,

I am looking for a value for money Android VR Phone. It should have VR+the specs should justify the amount, again value for money. Any suggestions?

The VR Box 2.0 selling for Rs 500 is probably the cheapest "comfortable" VR around.. It lacks a magnetic button though, which is why sellers are selling it with a bluetooth controller (at a higher cost)
If you have a 360 controller, you can probably otg through it..

My dear I am looking for an Android phone with VR and not the VR goggles alone.

And I presume you were talking about these-

Do these cheap, chinese made goggles give the real feeling of VR? And will it serve the purpose if I use it with a 4 year old phone like SIII?

Cant say, since I never used them, but if you want to try VR, they seem to be a good option ..
You can buy Lenovo K4 note which comes with a special VR called ANT Vr that is exclusive to them

I will wait and save more rather than spend money on those chinese goggles. What does those bluetooth controllers do btw?

I saw that phone on Amazon, it was on sale at a very low price but IDK why I don't like lenovo. Any Samsung/HTC value for money VR phone?

for a phone to be fully VR capable, it needs to have gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer.. A display size of 5.5 inches + and higher resolution (1080p min) is preferred, and AMOLED display can make the VR experience better..

If your current phone has all these checked, then its fully VR capable..
You can buy Samsung's GearVR if you want a premium quality VR but id say TRY ordering the chinese VR box and see if VR is worth it.. its only 499 anyway.. A friend of mine purchased Gear VR recently and said it was a waste of a purchase as he wasnt going to use it much...

Apart from this, there's Huawei and ZTE implementation for Gear VR which are premium quality and decent. but i dont think they are available in india

I have tried the Indian made EK Box, but the build quality is crap.You are required to glue the box for it to stay in shape, which does not stick most of the time. Also, lack of strap and very slippery magnetic switch. I think the Chinese made ones might be of a better build quality than it.

That being said, VR experience is adequate even with cheap cardboard VR boxes. Most of the experience depends more on the phone itself.

Mine is a Samsung Galaxy SIII, it does not have the bold part. Not able to find Huawei and ZTE anywhere online. Well I have read the reviews of the Chinese one so I am going to save 500 bucks. BTW what are the bluetooth controllers for, that are with the vr? How's the experience of S7 with gear vr? I read somewhere that Sammy will release Gear vr 2 in the last months of this year. So, I am also planning to wait a bit.

Really? Then why are people spending like 7000 bucks on a gear vr?

The Chinese VR Box 2.0 and 1.0 does not have any magnetic switch to trigger actions like Google Cardboard does. The bluetooth controller is used to control things, as well as to play VR capable games or just games in general..
I dont think even ANT VR has magnetic switch, so i cant say..

Upgrading from S3 is a differnt question altogether and yes, you should upgrade to a newer phone, preferably with a 1080p screen

Mobile VR does not really have much practical application now. You can use it mostly to view some tech-demos and stuff, but nothing much other than that.

Yes, it won't be used everyday. But for a theatrical experience of watching movies, it is great. Well my SIII is doing great, rooted, in full control, fully customized. I am not letting it go. My other phone N73 is broken, need a new one, so I thought why not a VR gear and phone.

Will it work with every phone or with their line of Nexus phones? Sammy also released a news about gear 2 with major improvements in the last quarter.

Yea, as [MENTION=110244]Nerevarine[/MENTION] has mentioned feeling awesome for 2-4 minutes. But the movie experience is great. And if they can somehow connect apps like Skype to it, it will be great.

No gear VR and current implementation of "PHONE" VR isnt full fledged implementation, the quality of content is nowhere near the ones you get in Oculus Rift or HTC Vibe Both of which cost 500$ along with a 980 level GPU (~Rs 40k)
Google Daydream is said to change that, we will have to wait and see though

Just for my information's sake, can we connect Oculus to pc/laptop? Also is it available in India?
