Recently i hav bought Nokia 6630 Smartphone. I have purcahsed a 256 MB RS MMC Card from the local market also. Now I want to use my phone also as a Pen Drive.

That means I want to make my mobile phone to work as mass storage device, though intially it does not support. It requires Nokia PC Suite 6.6 to work.

Now My question is that is there any third party software present that can make the phone to work as MSD.

Becoz Symbain has annouced its new version of S60 that will support USB Mass Storage.

PLease help

If ur cell phone has a micro usb port on it then it will most probably be recognised
as a USB mass storage device by windows.

i dont think a software patch will make ur cell USB mass storage compatible becoz u need to have a usb port on ur cell first. N-gage is recog by windows as a USB MSD although it has an older version of symbian.

No 6630 does not contain any micro usb port. I connect my mobile through DKU-2 cable through data port on my phone.

but as far as i know ngage also does contain any usb micro port on it , then how is it recognised as msd.

But one thing i want to know that higher Sumbian OS like 9.0 will support usb msd so this means there was software patch which was updated on the OS.

Then why can my phone have this support. I dont think usb micro is necessary for msd.

Because phones like E398 does not have a usb micro port but then also it is recognised as USB MSD.

I do think tht you require a micro USB port to make it as a MSD . And nokia just does not use newer versions of their O.S , there are hardware updates as well -- its just not software and without the hardware how can one expect the software to runn ????
So the new S6 phones would have a complete USB compatability thing . And a point that i myself have gone through -- you buy something very new and good and the next day the company launches something newer and better !!!!

Just get a card reader that costs about Rs. 300 and it will do the job for you. Why burden the batteries of your phone for this? New batteries costs a few thousand, card reader is only 300 and will work even in future with othr cards ;)

but card readers also requires driver to be installed first , then whats the use of it.

The dku-2 cable works fine for me. Its all the same. No sense spending another 300 for the same thing.....

If card reader requires drivers, then how did your handset worked? Without drivers? In WinXP, there is usually, no need to install drivers for card reader and even if it is, how long does it take? All good card readers come with CD.

Once my DigiCam got spoilt because of direct connection with Comp. Fortunately, I got it replaced for free from the vendor. From that day onwards, I have only used a card reader to transfer files from card to PC and vice versa. Hope nothing goes wrong with your cell.
