Hi Guys,

I need to get a laptop for my wife urgently in 2 days. She is in Java and uses VM and need a strong configuration (i7 +16 GB RAM ) Please suggest.

1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
Budget 1 L

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
For coding I want 15.6'

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
Virtual Machine, Java, Oracle DB all at same time

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
i7 7700HQ or i7 8550U and 16 GB Ram 128GB SSD

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: Dell, Lenovo, Asus, HP
b. Dislike: Acer

6) Anything else you would like to say?
Battery should be good enough.
Not too funky as it will be mostly office laptop
Gaming is not in preference.
Full keyboard with numeric will be good.

Check if Dell XPS 15 in India has been updated with 8750H.
Its not released in India yet. Any other recommendation.
I checked HP Legion yesterday at a shop. It cost 1 L and has all the required config. but isnt 7700HQ bit old now.

Yes. 7700HQ is previous gen and shouldn't be considered for a budget >50k.

Some more options:
Do check screen personally as one review say screen is not ips.

Not sure if it is officially available model in India.

HP Envy model I posted costs 1.14lakh but I am assuming it should cost less in retail brand stores.

Dell model title description says "Newest 2-in-1 Dell Inspiron 5000 Flagship Premium 13.3" Full HD Touchscreen Laptop | Intel Core i7-8550U Quad-Core | 16GB DDR4 | 256GB SSD | Waves MaxxAudio | Backlit Keyboard | Windows 10".

^^Only U version processors are available in "regular laptops",H version only available in "gaming laptops" not suitable for office/females in general because of design, looks, weight etc.

Wait if you can, 8th H series CPUs should be in India in a month or two. I expect MSI to launch it first in India followed by Acer or Asus, going by previous trends.

Even i7 7700HQ is good enough if you can't wait. Get a gaming laptop with i7 7700HQ & GTX 1050. I'd recommend Dell 5577 because of its good cooling system & battery life. In a way, its exactly the same s my Dell 7559 but with better CPU & GPU.

Dell 5577 has a matte screen. Screen quality is average even though it is IPS. Asus ROG laptops have good IPS display, even MSI G series.

It is basically Dell 7559 with upgraded CPU & GPU, so its reviews will give you an idea of anything that you might be interested in.

Even after 2 years of gaming, my GPU still stays under 75C & CPU about 80C under load. My old Y500 started crossing 85C after 2 years (both CPU & GPU). I still get a battery life of 5 hours in normal usage (wifi, 50% brightness, editing docs, web browsing).

I agree, also be sure to have IPS.
Honestly Id go for 8th gen U series than 7th gen HQ series, specifically for battery life.
If 8th Gen H series is available, then even better.

If you doing coding so you required more RAM than CPU power. I think you have to wait for MSI release
