Unstable/weak internet - Setup issue or is it my old router?

I am a bit confused though. If I read your very first post opening statements…

my Wifi on a 100 Mbps ACT fibernet connection seems to be unstable with disconnects now and then

I understood that your WiFi connection made to router 2 from your device like Laptop is getting disconnected.
Now apparently in above post you are talking about speed on ethernet port. So I am bit unsure what exact issues are you facing.

Culprits could be anything like incorrect bandwidth setting in router, poor LAN cable, outdated drivers, overwhelmed router, any other services conflicting in Windows and so on. Since it appears it’s a company owned laptop, you may want to discuss with your corporate IT team to see if they have any actions on the laptop and Windows.

As far as a new router is concerned, I do not have any specific recommendation. I have come across some poorly designed routers where the specs say ac WiFi but they offered only 100 Mbps LAN port!! So the only comment I have is make sure that the LAN and WAN ports are Gigabit on the model you select. Other things check the specs and decide.

I prefer to keep the SSIDs different, but you can keep them same, make sure to set different channels. Connect to both one by one and set it to auto connect so that it will auto select the strongest network.
In windows, elevated cmd.exe run
Code:
netsh wlan show interfaces
This will show the details of the wlan interface. BSSID points to the mac of the router you are currently connected to.

Yes, my initial problem was with the Wifi drops.. So, I connected the laptop via LAN to check if that solves the issue but then I encountered the above issues even on a LAN connection.. hence, thought of highlighting here just to let you know that the router is not able to produce 100 mbps even via the LAN port..

Do you have any idea if a wifi 6 standard on the 2.4 Ghz is worth it? The tplink AX10/AX12 (with Wifi 6 only on the 5 ghz band) are available at 3k while the AX53 (with Wifi6 on both the 5 ghz & 2.4 ghz ) costs more.. Will this make any difference? Enquired with local shops and did not get a clear answer though..
