Undergraduate Engineering Internships

Hi everyone,
My cousin is pursuing his automotive engineering in UK. He is back home now and he has to do some internship in his upcoming session break from April to September.
Please suggest what internship openings are available for 1st year students that he can benefit from.

Thanks
Aby

I didn't get any decent internship back during my UG days, only CS/IT people got some relevant internship. Other than CS/IT, most people who got some internship got it via their contacts. Like many people do internships in their local State Transport department if they have contacts.

Try to contact HRs of automotive companies via LinkedIn, might help, worth a try.

Thanks omega, that is great advice. I'll give it a shot.
Can you suggest any working engineering faculty we could approach to further guide him.

Other than that, would you suggest any online training he should take up for added skills in the meantime?

I personally don't know if those online trainings help in the mechanical domain. If its something like learning CATIA or SolidWorks or ANSYS, etc, might help in future job prospects asking for those skills, otherwise not sure.

Yes he is learning matlab and solidworks classes will begin soon.

What do you think about this. It might not be automotive but seems good for initial experience.

He has a mac book pro can he run solidworks on it? and what licence should he go for?

I had suggested him to learn fusion 360 as well. Will that be enough for a role in automobile design?

Not sure how that internship will be.

I don't think a lot of mechanical software run on Mac or Linux.

From what I know, most companies use CATIA, Solidworks or Creo, Fusion 360 might be rare, esp in India.
