First of all tell me

1. What is your operating system...? is it win XP

2. What is your hard disk type ? SATA or IDE

3. What is your partition type ? FAT32 or NTFS

4. What is the total size and how many partions are there ?

5. What company hard disk is it?

6. How and when it started ?

7. Is hard drive partition unaccessable or you can browse and copy file from this partition to other partition ?

8. Do you have antivirus software installed ?

these are the few questions which can help finding out the exact problem.

no i cannot create a folder too.
I have some files on it and can access them
thefilesystem is FAT32 though all the other three are NTFS because this particular drive could not be changed for filesystem
ihave
windows xp
SATA
i have run chack disk but it doesn't help

Copy the files into another partition and format it... Dont know the problem and cant guarantee the problem will go away, but it is a start to finding solution.

It seems there is some serious problem.

you should once run the check disk with "Fix Automatic system errors" and "Scan and check for Bad sectors" checked.

If it doesn't solve then ---

The best thing is to copy all the files to other partition if you can.

Shut down the computer and just try to pull the sata connector cable (RED)out and reconnect it.

Restart your comp.

open computer management ( right click My computer - open manage )

select Disk Management - select the partition - DELETE it.

RECREATE the partition - then reformat with NTFS.

These steps will ensure proper future performance.

If your drive is SEAGATE then try to run SEATOOLS later to thoroughly check the drive for BAD sectors. Since this happens when your File Allocation Table (in FAT32 or MFT in NTFS) gets partially corrupted.

Hope this will solve ur problem
