unable to install the os

hi, when i boot to my system it will show the error invalid partition table.and then i try to install the os the files are copied correctly and the system will restsrts.then it show the same error.what can i do?please help me.i have exams on the day after tomorrow.

that's right almighty first dont feel tense we are here to help you , write your problem clearly, whether it is WIN XP,98 or vista got this error,if so what are the partitions you have done

it is in windows xp.my configuration is pentium d processor.1 gbram.and intel 865 motherboard.i have five partitions.i have installed the os in c and also in d.when i try to install the os it will copy the system files in the hard disk.when the files are copied the system will restart.then i change the priority to the hard disk it will show the same error.it didnt go to the windows boot screen.

priority to hard-disk :? u dont need to change any priority ....

pop in the cd and do as it says dont change anything :)

why do you installed OS on both the drives, did you installed or one drive contains OS and other the copy of files,if you had both drives installed with OS during booting the ini file is unable to choose either c or d ,so better insert your XP cd and format d drive using it, if d also has OS

dont change boot priority
lets windows install completly
u can change ur priority anfter u get desktop
b4 that dont change ur booting sequence...

In the zone
While installing the OS go for complete formatting the drive in which you are installing the OS. Never leave the file system unaltered as it was previous. This might work.

simple start from scratch ....

format the 2 partitions
get another xp cd
install again and dont change any priority ....
