Unable to format my partition

I am using WIN XP HOME SP2 on a 80 GB SATA HDD with 4 partitions C,D,Eand F (all are NTFS) . I wanted to quick format my F partition and I tried doing so from MY COMPUTER itself but I keep getting an error saying "Windows was unable to format the partition. Close any window displaying the partitions contents or disable any disk utilities.. " , I am not using any disk utilities and i have tried formatting after closing every window and exiting every program but i still keep getting the error. What could the problem be ?? I am also posting my HijackThis log file as i feel i have been affected by spyware , plz be kind enough to go through it and reply if i have to fix anything. and also mention how to fix stuff using hijack this. thanx guyz.

I had the same problems
I installed Partition Magic and formatted it then
If you have the XP boot cd you can behave as if you are installing to F drive and format it and then dont install at all

my f: partition shows used space as around 50 mb but there is nothing in it and even after enabling viewing of hidden files i dont see anything in it .. what is occupying 50 mb ???

I presume the space is for inodes and partition info and many other stuffs,dont worry man

Hi,
HijackThis log looks clean.
Try formatting the drive in Safe Mode. Also, if you have Windows XP CD, you can use it to format as well.
