Two queries about XP...

Hello! :)
Please help me out with these two issues:

1. How to completely disable the gay balloon tips? Using registry hacking, not some third party application.
2. How to remove the task bar completely? I don't just want it to auto-hide. I want it to not be there at all. Just pressing the Windows key should launch the start menu but the task bar should not exist at all.

Thank you! :)

1. See point 18 "Restrict Balloon Tips":

2. For it, u'll hv to use some transparency software or u can use RKLauncher or Rocket Dock. They have feature to completely replace the taskbar with their dock and u can still hv the start button. :)

But I don't want their dock either. I have the real deal already.

Thanks for the help! :) Is there really no solution to the task bar issue?

I had a transparent EXE file in past, which was only a few KB in size (16 KB approx.) and can make the taskbar transparent or totally invisible based upon the settings. So that utility can help you for sure but I can't remember its name. ;)

OK. Here is the thread where I posted about it but I uploaded it at RS and the link is not working now:

WOW! Thanks!

Your link may be dead but I'm sure one of the other applications recommended on that thread will definitely help me get rid of that ugly thing. The registry hack also worked out perfectly. Thank you, thank you so much! :D

Kalpik has posted this link to Glass2k:

This one does the job I wanted done perfectly. :)

One more Q for me .. How to remove the "Windows Secutity Alert" icon..

^^ Open it from the icon and in left side pane, u'll get an option to customize the alerts (it'll be at bottom) and then uncheck all options there. ;)

PS: I'm on Vista so can't tell the exact options name.

I guess I spoke too soon. Glass2K does not work. :(

Let me look at some of the other options...

Not working. I mean, it does make the taskbar transparent but you can see that it is there. :(

Here is a small utility that i created to hide taskbar...once executed it will make taskbar transparent and wont work in background wasting memory:)......u will need to include it in startup if u want taskbar to be hidden in every session.

I cannot but that little line actually looks pretty good below my menu bar. So I'm glad it remains. :D

Thank you so much, slugger! :)

Still has one problem though. The hidden task bar throws a gigantic shadow beneath it that makes the menu bar look like it is way above the level of the desktop. I can deal with it though; no problem. :)
