TV Tuner Problems

I bought an external TV tuner to connect my XBOX to my LCD monitor. The problem is when i on the XBOX i get a black screen and nothing else works, i cannot access the LCD menu. When i switch off the LCD and switch it back ON i can see the XBOX menu for a second and again it vanishes to the black screen.

The LCD monitor is a computer monitor ans does not have seperate AV inputs and the external TV Box is not connected to system in anyway(i.e no USB)
