Turntable/ Record Player

My grandfather's marriage anniversary is coming up and i want to gift them a record player/ turntable(i do not know the diff between the two)
please help me with the following

• what is the diff. bw a turntable and a record player, which one will be best for casual listening?
• do i need a set of speakers to go with it? if yes please tell me which one?
• where do i buy it in delhi?
• how much will it cost? approx
• will there be any warantee?
• what is the repairing status?

What's your budget? A record player or a turntable is same in a colloquial way. A turntable/record player will need an amplifier with a phono stage.There are two types of phono stages, MM/MC. The cost involved is pretty good even for a entry level set up.

is did a little serching and found one for 14k with in built speakers looks quite cool its called "Jensen JTA - 220 Record Player Cum Turntable" but 14k is waaaay out of my pocket money!!

Record players are costly buddy, take a look at this

It doesn't have a builtin speaker though, but can be connected to speakers via aux out
