The Devil
Hi,

I have Windows XP and Vista on my system currently and now planning to install Ubuntu. Now if I choose to uninstall Ubuntu without disturbing Vista, what should I do? If I run "fixmbr" will it remove Vista boot loader too? Also is it possible to remove Vista yet keep Ubuntu?

Another question: If I want to remove Vista from a dual boot system of XP and Vista, on which drive should I run "fixboot"? The puzzling thing is when I boot into Vista, the drive letters are rearranged so that the Vista drive becomes "C" even though its 'actually' "H" (as seen from XP). So both my Vista and XP partitions are "C". Somebody please explain to me.

So no one knows anything about it huh? Strange, so many Vista and Ubuntu users yet no reply.

If u have Windows vista installed on another partition, dual booting with Windows XP, then formatting the Vista partition, will remove Windows XP boot loader also, to prevent this, first boot in Windows XP, Insert the Vista beta DVD, then go to Start-> run & type

E:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force

After this, your system will auto start & u will be automatically boot in Windows XP, now simply format the vista partition to remove it

About ubuntu, i don't know. Your best net is to use some other boot loader then GRUB or Lilo etc
